It is easy to imagine tons of earth from higher up the hillside sliding down across the track (photo by John Ball, 15 January 2008).</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://johnofbrecon.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/approaching-y-j-from-the-south.jpg</image:loc><image:title>Approaching Y-J from the south</image:title><image:caption>the junction at Ynysygeinon. The two tracks going off to the right are the N&B line and they merged into a single line immediately north of the junction. The line to the left is the SVR main line to Ystalyfera and alongside it is the signal box, a 1910 replacement of the original box and it closed in 1967. At various times some of the Brecon and Brynaman passenger trains were joined and divided here. The 1882 working timetable shows that for Up trains just three minutes was typically allowed for this procedure. Five minutes was allowed for Down trains. Note the footpath crossing the track in the foreground. This appears to be an access to some buildings which were on the hillside to the right.</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://johnofbrecon.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/approaching-y-j-from-the-north.png</image:loc><image:title>Approaching Y-J from the north</image:title><image:caption>Train approaching Ynys-y-geinon Junction from Coelbren.
